Creating/Editing
Your Index Page
 
1. Save Sample
Duration: moments
 

Open and save the sample default.htm into your My Documents folder (i.e. My Documents\default.htm) This file may not be in any other folder.

 
  1. Create a portfolio page similar to the sample. (It may be different.)
    (Any pictures used must be within your class folder. i.e. WEB1 or WEB 2 folders.)
  2. Type out project descriptions.
  3. Save your default.htm into your My Document folder (i.e. My Documents\default.htm)
  4. Link assignment files. (Highlight text, choose file.)
  5. Preview your work to make sure files link correctly.
 


If you need to move your default.htm file:

  1. Open Default.htm in Dreamweaver
  2. Choose File/Save As.and save it as a new default.htm in the desired folder.
  3. Click 'Yes' to update links.
  4. Verify you have the new Default.htm in the correct folder.
  5. Delete the old Default.htm in the old folder.

If you need to move pictures from My Pictures to your WEB1 folder:

  1. Move the pictures from My Pictures to WEB1
  2. Open Default.htm in Dreamweaver
  3. Relink you pictures

 

Portfolio Grading: Keep in mind that the portfolio should:

    • be easy for me to grade. (Usually newest first)
    • follow design principles
      • have a central focus (Contrast)
      • uses similar colors and shapes (Repetition)
      • horizontal and vertical flow (Alignment)
      • related items together (Proximity)
      • no text on an edge
      • all san serif fonts
      • avoid big pictures that do not add content
Sketch Grading:
1. professional (would be handed in for $$$) 10/10
2. neat, but high school level 8/10
3. Sloppy or need explaination 6/10
4. Sloppy and little info 4/10
5. Little attempt 2/10
6. does not work NHI

Transferring/Posting Files
Duration: a few more moments

  1. Get the login and password from the teacher.
  2. Go to ftp://209.43.33.20/

    Login
    Password

    To view this FTP site in Windows Explorer, click Page, and then click Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer.

  3. Transfer the default.htm and associated folders and files. (You can just transfer your WEB1 folder.)
  4. Check your site to make sure everything works the way it should, especially pictues and links.)
