  • WD 3.1 Content Standard: Students demonstrate the principles of good design and graphics utilizing commercial based software. (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Paint, Macromedia Fireworks, Macromedia Flash) (H.9.1)
Chapter Objectives
 
  • Understanding the Macromedia Flash Workspace

  • Understand why we should learn Flash
    1. It's still around. Many people and sites use it
    2. Vector Based - scalable
    3. Provides for streaming - little wait for content
    4. Interactivity - draws attention
    5. Hides Code - Can't steal code, unlike HTML

  • Understand why Flash is going away (more)
    1. It was developed for PC's with mice...(old stuff)
    2. It's a resource hog
    3. It's a security risk
    4. Steve Jobs didn't like it
    5. Flash sites are not search friendly
    6. Flash sites are harder to maintain (update) than HTML sites
    7. Flash is not open (You need the source files to update)
    8. Flash sucks battery life
    9. Flash doesn't do 'Touch' well
    10. Flash is third party dependant

  • Open a document and play a movie.
  • Create and save a movie.
  • Work with the timeline.
  • Plan a web site.
  • Distribute a Macromedia Flash movie.
1. Flash 1A Assignment

  1. Within your last name folder create a NEW folder called "FLASH1". Save all future FLash Chapter 1 assignments in this folder. Remember, no spaces or extra periods in filenames.

  2. Save the compressed Flash Student Data Files into the Flash 1 folder. Uncompressed the files. Use for all remaining Flash assignments.
