Executive Summary

Create a document that outlines the following information for your business plan.  Match heading and sub-headings from the contest guidelines. Include:

  • Name, Period, Date
  • Business Name, Product or Service

Appendix

An appendix is optional. Include in the appendix any exhibits appropriate to the written entry but not important enough to include in the body; these might include sample questionnaires used, letters sent and received, general background data, etc.

  5. When preparing your written business plan, you must observe the following standards.
      • The pages must be numbered in sequence, starting with the executive summary and ending with the final page of the appendix.
      • The body of the business plan section can be single-spaced.
      • The title page, table of contents, executive summary, bibliography, appendix, long quotes (more than three typed lines), material in tables, figures, exhibits, lists, headings, sample letters, forms, etc. may be single-spaced.
      • The entry must follow the sequenced outlined. No additional sections may be included. Each section must be titled at the beginning of each section including the bibliography and the appendix if included. Do not use separate sheets between sections or as title pages for sections.
      • Student’s names should only appear on the cover sheet of the business plan.
    1. Title page
      • The first page of the business plan, which lists the following information in this order:
        • Name of the Business
        • Name of the high school
        • Participant(s) name and email address
        • Date
    2. Table of Contents - The table of contents should follow the title page and must list, by Roman numeral, the title of each section and the page it begins on. The title page and table of contents is not a numbered page. (The executive summary will be Page 1.) Table Of Contents Help
    3. Body of the Business Plan
      1. Help inserting financial (excel) into MS Word (including moving from portrait and landscape orientation.)

      2. You have created each part of your business plan as separate documents. Pay careful attention to changes in format. i.e. you should not double space your Introduction and then single space your Trading Area Analysis. You should also make sure that you don't have one section with 1" margins and another with 1.25" margins.

    4. Appendix: An appendix is optional for the contest. It is NOT optional for the class. Include in the appendix any exhibits appropriate to the written entry but not important enough to include in the body; these might include sample questionnaires used, letters sent and received, general background data, etc.
    5. Check the plan for page numbering and formatting problems using the formatting guideline.
    6. Check the Written Plan Evaluation!!!
    7. Grade Yourself!!!
